SmugMug > popular > Other > chattin in the china cabinet 07/01/08 these fine ladies are in my sis and b-i-l's china cabinet and just begged to have their photo taken, so i was happy to oblige. back home tho tired right out. looking forward to catching up on the banquet of photos i've missed tho probably won't be able to stuff myself like a christmas goose as i've many other things need doing also. just have to work on patience i guess. if virtues were more fun i reckon more people would practice them ;-)

SmugMug > popular > Other > checking the news 09/16/08 this is watson. his human impatiently wanted to continue their walk but watson was quite adamant that he wasn't going anywhere until the news was over. they were both kind enough to allow me to take their pic for a dp. for those who are fans of tv and movie courtroom dramas we actually had some drama today just like tv. lots of sidebars, objections and emotions were fairly high. we even ran overtime. all in a good cause i guess. still several days to go, hope i don't fall asleep today ;-) on that note i'm off to bed but sill hopefully catch up tonight on the great shots i know are being posted

DOD is the ice cream fiend in the family and when he'd get the urge while visiting this is where we'd go. i really like this painting by their emergency exit
SmugMug > popular > Other > pink wild rose aka a pretty weed 06/13/08 just realized its friday the 13th here in the us of a. my fav day usually. a bit heavy-hearted tho as DOD (my dp 05/16/08) is in the hospital and the docs don't really know what's wrong except that he's not doing very well. i won't be posting this week-end as i'll be down there being with him tho i'll almost surely have something to backpost when i get back home as using my camera is like breathing to me, not absolutely necessary but a good idea if i want to live. i had some things i much wanted to say about the posting and comments yesterday but i'm so tired i'll just have to wing it and hope it comes out right as i'm posting this then off to bed early. i didn't enter the contest because i expected to win, nor do i now, tho i'd certainly like to be awarded something. i entered for the education. education has costs, the cheapest of which is money as far as i'm concerned - tho many would disagree with me to judge by their actions. my purpose in bringing what i consider injustice to public attention wasn't that i expected people to be 'fair' or that life itself is fair since i've known from gradeschool that life ain't fair and SO WHAT. i did want to hear what y'all had to say about voting other people down to build yourself up. clearly that can't ever work i've always thought and i was heartened, and not at all surprised, that that is what y'all think also. when someone started pushing down many peoples fine work here on smug, including some of my own, i was miffed. after some reflection however i left my pics with the thumbs activated because my goal isn't so much that my work be on any 'top' list, tho that's certainly pleasant, but that people enjoy it and that i get feedback from peers so i can improve my craft. i've learned a great deal by opening my smug page and especially since i joined the daily community, i thank you all. bottom line is that for me anger is like murder and i don't consider this 'thumbs down' crap anything to kill over so i ain't gonna be angry either. its really more like the foolishness is like fleas, annoying til you realize what it is and take appropriate measures...then forgotten. i agree with all of you who expressed that 'ok...so what' attitude and agree that the worst thing that can be done to the mean-spirited is to leave them the joy of their own company and move on with one's own joy. of course my commentary was a blatant appeal for votes also so in that vein...please click on that pretty poppy in this gallery and vote the links ;-) thanks one and all for the joy, education and votes! (even whomever votes everything down...may you find something real to put that energy to). i can't imagine a better place to be posting thoughts and pics nor a better group of people to share both with. blessings on you all in massive measure

The photographer brought candy. I've probably ruined him for life with his very first sugar buzz, but we'll do anything for a good shot. Here are the rest of the images from his session. SmugMug > popular > Other > photo collage from DOD's memorial service 08/19/08 this is the photo collage my sis and her friend created for DOD's memorial service (sunday the 17th). sis gave me a ride home tonight and we had dinner with my boss's (boss, big boss, middle boss and little boss) at another friends restaurant and brought this along so they could see it as none of them could make the service. i should be baqck to regular posting and commenting now. just ran out of inspiration, time and energy for while. lots of stuff still to do for DOD's estate but should be able to post and comment regularly, i hope. thank you one and all for the kind thoughts, prayers and good wishes. muchly appreciated. off to bed tonight as back to work in the morning but look forward to catching up on what's been going on in the daily pic world asap
