Chocolate and Peanut Butter chips

I took this a few days ago. I've been a little lazy, so I'm putting up some photos from last Wednesday when I went crazy, running around the house with the camera.

Also, I finally finished the application to iStock.com, so now I have the mindset of making stock photos. You may see a lot of those in the near future. Sorry...

Sidebar:
Why did I have no problem "publishing" my own book in less than a weekend, but I can't find a single picture that I want to have printed and hung on the wall in my living room?
SmugMug > popular > Photography > Suntrise over a new Vernon County fair.. I live in a still mostly rural county.. the biggest town is Viroqua with a population, don't laugh, about 4200.. the fair is still a big thing here.. yes we still show our farm animals, crops, veggies, crafts and even photos.. tractor pull and harness racing are big draws.. ya we are hicks but I wouldn't be as happy any where else... well maybe some where else in Jan and Feb..

As a young child I read a book called "The Eagle of the Ninth" by Rosemary Sutcliff. It was the first book that I remember reading on my own, and the first to introduce me to the myriad of pleasures that can be found in the pages of a book. It told the story of a young Roman's search to find what happened to his father's legion, the Ninth, that was lost after being sent to sort out a rebellion in the far North. In 117AD the Ninth Legion marched through this arch, and never returned. Or maybe no one ever looked hard enough?

As I was researching this photo this evening I found that the book is being made into a movie, to be released in 2009. I hope it is as good as the book!

This was almost my Daily, I think it is a nicer image, but it is much too close to my one from the 21st; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/gallery/4222541_LCXPH#359729097_pEZF3-X2-LB

(8-16-08)

I've lived in Omaha for 25 years, and I've never gone to the Offutt Air Force Base Open House and Air Show. They hold it almost every year, and this year I decided it was time to remedy that. So I braved the bumper to bumper traffic, and thousands and thousands of people, and I went.

OMG!!!!! IT WAS FABULOUS!!!

I had a heck of a time picking a photo. I could have gone with the B-2 Stealth Bomber, or the F-15 Eagle, or the Heritage Flight. But in the end I picked this one of the Thunderbirds. I'll post a link to my gallery of today's shots when I get done with them. I have lots.

I got there early enough to check out a few of the planes they had on the tarmac for people to see. I heard they had about 100 parked out there, but I only checked out a few. Then I found a seat on one of the little bleachers and pretty much stayed there. I thought I would only stay a few hours and then head out, but I ended up staying all day. The Thunderbirds weren't until 3:30 and since I was there, I definitely wanted to see them. And all day long they had planes flying demos. It was so, so, so cool!!!

Did I mention that I had a great seat. The planes flew right in front of where I was. And they almost always did photo passes so you could get great shots. It was a beautiful day. And the whole thing is free. THANKS to Offutt Air Force Base for doing this every year. I just might have to go again next year.

(8-15-08)

Just a shot of my beautiful Jazzy girl. And I'm playing with lenses.

I need help/advice from anybody who has been on a trip, specifically to Ireland. I'm going there in a couple of weeks...woo hoo!!! So what lens should I take? I have a 17-85, but it is f/4.5-5.6. Or would a 24-105 f/4 be better? The 24-105 is faster, but not as wide. Oh, such a problem :). Wider or faster??

And from anybody who has been there, any tips on the best places to visit? We're renting a car, heading out, and trying to fit as much of the country (Ireland and Northern Ireland) into 9 days as we can. E-mail me at kubben@aol.com if you have any advice/suggestions.

And I also have to say that I've had a hard time commenting much lately. I've still been checking out all of your wonderful photos, but time seems to have gotten away from me lately and I haven't been commenting much (at all). Maybe I can catch up this weekend.

And for those of you on the other side of the pond, could you tell the rain to quit in 2 weeks!!
