SmugMug > popular > Portfolio > 11-22-06 No Swimming . . . . indeed! Gray, rainy day. The last few days have been gray, moody pictures too. Not really reflective of my mood.
SmugMug > popular > Portfolio > Hibiscus-Rosa-Sinensis-2006-07-04-3001 I was at the Zoo using a new lens [Canon EF 100-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 L IS USM]. A few flowers were around and this particular one had the sun from the rear emphasizing the translucent qualities of the flower. The lens was rather long and the shortened depth of field really put the background out of focus. I think the complementary colors really work well together.

SmugMug > popular > Portfolio > went to boulder for a picnic with tamara and some friends. afterward we headed to boulder's pearl street mall for some coffee and ice cream for the kids. out of 150 picture taken-this one is my absolute favorite. i love the blur of the background and the busy pedestrian mall on a beautiful colorado day. i love the telling connection between tam and her daughter. these two aren't too tough to photograph, they are almost always happy and smiling!

SmugMug > popular > Portfolio > 01-23-07 York, PA Okay, I'm liking this "painterly" approach to image creation. This one is not a montage like the previous version fron 1/21. My photo image, but I did still use the stock "texture" files supplied on the CD that came with the magazine (see 1/21 for more info). So I bought one of those slick photography magazines that Barnes & Noble sells - you know the ones I'm talking about - oversized, published in the UK, comes with the CD in the back. This one is Advanced Photoshop Techniques - Issue 25. I liked one of the articles in the issue I bought, specifically on PS textures. This is my effort to follow the steps they outlined. I used a couple of my own images and I used a couple of their supplied stock shots. Here's the finished result.
