SmugMug > popular > Portfolio > 2008.07.18 (Fri) - Biked in today, I wrapped up the Process Flows and Use Cases that were due by the end of day Monday. I got called up for jury duty and have to report at 9AM Monday so all my deliverables had to be completed today. The ride home was hot and I worked a bit late so I took Sunrise Blvd all the way home.... Bad idea, I may have saved 10 minutes but it would have been safer to take my usual route.

Got home, showered, changed, and took Brandon out to dinner. We went and checked on the "Beaver Tree". It is still standing and while we were there we got to see some of the beavers swimming in the wetlands that they have created, it was pretty neat.

We returned home and Brandon hopped on X-Box live and I started reading a new book I picked up. It is a book on C# business objects. The guys at work have decided that we are going to use CSLA for our business object archictecture so I am going to need to get familiar with it fairly quickly. A couple of chapters in and I realized I needed to grab my daily photo so I opted for this self portrait.

Until tomorrow,

Darron
SmugMug > popular > Portfolio > my little guy 'bonked his bean' (graff lingo for "hit his head") this morning awfully hard on the toybox. he got over it very quickly but i was thinking that the black and blue spot on his forehead might not look too well for his birthday on sunday. so--i raced to dress him in his birthday portrait outfit and urged him to pose for me. it was a struggle for us both but i think i got a couple of cute ones.
(thanks john for offering feedback and helping me to pick these out of the album.)
happy early birthday my love. sorry-but momma is probably going to dress you up for a few years to come--until you are able to put up a fight!

SmugMug > popular > Portfolio > This was taken on my 6th grade Europe trip with Mr. Dolby. Out of all the different places we went in two weeks, this was one of my favorites by far. It was taken from a bridge while we walked to St. Marks square on the way in.

Okay, I'm liking this "painterly" approach to image creation. This one is not a montage like the previous version fron 1/21. My photo image, but I did still use the stock "texture" files supplied on the CD that came with the magazine (see 1/21 for more info).

So then I tried using my own creation texture files (and one I found online).

Here's the result (different look and feel - even more impressionistic):

"Artsy-fartsy" day.

So I bought one of those slick photography magazines that Barnes & Noble sells - you know the ones I'm talking about - oversized, published in the UK, comes with the CD in the back. This one is Advanced Photoshop Techniques - Issue 25.

I liked one of the articles in the issue I bought, specifically on PS textures. This is my effort to follow the steps they outlined.

I used a couple of my own images and I used a couple of their supplied stock shots. Here's the finished result.
