"The Early Bird Catches the Worm"

I was sitting on my front stairs enjoying the nice spring day with my dog. I saw the Robin in my yard, i went inside to get my camera, anticipating that the bird would probably be gone when I returned. I was pleasantly surprised to see her still standing there, so I started to try and get a shot of her when she reached down and pulled up this worm. She was pretty far away from me and the reach of my camera so this is an extreme crop.

SmugMug > popular all-time > Clear Blue in action! - Feb 27 2009

Our Blue just loves agility, he's young and eager... but most of all he's enjoying himself. This is taken on our trainings field... going over the top of the A-frame at full speed.

This is a cheat today I'm afraid. Friday is always a bad day for me posting on the Dailies, so here is one I prepared earlier. This is the Red Arrows, the RAF aerobatic display team, and they are based less than 5 miles from me at Scampton, home of "The Dambusters" and all that. I've loved these guys since I was a kid, dreaming of being able to fly and going to Air Shows. These shots are all of them practicing, some days I can even see them out of my windows at home, who needs to pay big money to go to an airshow when you can watch for free :)

If you want to see a full display there is a wonderful video here on Youtube of a show they did over New York harbour last Summer. It is 23 minutes long, but there is a bit at 11.30 where they do a move that will make you gasp., enjoy!

Some of you have asked how to make these collages. There is no great skill, I just use a photo layout in Elements, all I do is drag the photos into place.

"Au diable la beauté lunaire
Et les ténèbres millénaires
Plein feu dans les Champs-Elysées !
Voici le nouveau carnaval
Où l'électricité ravale
Les édifices embrasés."

Louis Aragon

Ok it's not a night shot of Paris but Metz. I Really like this city for I lived there for 5 years. I think I actually found my entry for Dgrin MC2 !

Edit : this is a hdr shot composed from 6 different exposures... May not look really different than the natural shot here

Series: The Streets of Shanghai

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2yLMpGPU8A

As Maggie and I meandered our way through the teeming hive of activities, laying deep within these back streets and alleys, I noticed this interesting man, preparing a load of bananas on the back of his bicycle. On raising my camera, he immediately raised his hand, and I didn't know if it was a greeting or an instruction not to take the photograph. we didn't stop to find out and carried on our journey through this fascinating and magical passageway. In looking at this image many times, I've come to the conclusion, he was acknowledging our presence, somewhat cautiously, but greeting us, in a formal and commanding way. I recognize the purpose in his face and I have to say, this man has my attention and he has my respect!

SmugMug > popular all-time > Djazz - Nov 2 2009

Guess I'm not ready to go full color again :-)
Djazz has beautiful colors, but the roughness of his fur is more impressive in this B&W conversion. And it's been a while that he payed a visit to my dailies... he's such an adorable puppy ;-)
