Thanks so much..you all are the best! This lady bug was on a weed right next to the strange looking bugs..I will have to go back and check those weeds out again!

SmugMug > popular today > 9.11.09 - Fog Lights Today has been a beautiful one, fantastic weather, nice sunset, but the fog tonight was an extra surprise. When I came off the squash court at about 9.30pm I was hardly dressed for photography in near freezing fog, but I've been waiting too long for some fog to waste this opportunity. So instead of going home for a hot shower I drove straight to the Cathedral Quarter looking for photo opps! Needless to say I was the only person in shorts!! I got a few good shots of the fog and the golden glow from the Cathedral floodlights, but this one was a real stroke of luck. This is one of my favourite shooting positions, but for 10 minutes I froze waiting for someone to come along and be a "ghost" for me. So I wandered around for a while, and was on my way back to the car when I spotted these two guys heading for my spot. I raced ahead of them (you see the shorts were useful!) and fired 3 quick shots as they approached. One was out of focus, one had lousy comp, but this one turned out OK I think. Straight out of camera, not even a crop, just a touch of in camera sharpening and low light noise reduction. This is a beautiful spot, but when the fog descends it becomes utterly surreal. I'm one photog hoping for more fog this winter :) Thanks for the great response to my model railway shots, you guys blow me away!

Moodimism the concept is ofcourse inherrent, deep, laying within my soul but as with much of my photography, inspired by J, who was able to reach within me and retrieve, rekindle, my artistic spirit. A WORD OF THANKS ___________________ I'd like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thank you to the so many, many people who have commented and emailed me in support of the unfortunate event that took place a few days ago. I want to thank you all for your words and encouragement. I am astounded and heartened by the level and volume of support that I have received and want you all to know how privileged I regard myself to count you as my friends. Thank you!
SmugMug > popular today > Another shot of the cat who came to visit us on Halloween. It's been over a week since my new friend showed up at my bird feeder and he has been by to visit each day! I checked with my neighbors to see if he belonged to any of them. Some said that they had also seen him around, but no one claimed him. Each day I have found myself looking forward to where I would see these beautiful green eyes looking at me from around the yard. He is still very cautious, and will not come to me, but I have put some food out for him which he will come and eat as soon as he feels that the coast is clear for him! I thought this might give the birds at my feeder a break from his hunting, but he seems to be a very independent minded fellow so I am not sure about that! At least I know that he has a full stomach on these cold nights. My next question is do I name him or just leave him a man of mystery?

SmugMug > popular today > Parachutists Before the Game - at the Air Force/Army game Saturday, a pre-game performance by parachutists from the Air Force Academy and West Point. The man with the flag is a retired Air Force parachutist and a double amputee, who lost both legs in a mid-air collision with his partner, who died in the accident. The other parachutist in this shot is a West Point cadet. Please view this image in the largest sizes to see the detail of the parachutists, including the prothestics of the man with the flag. I was amazed at the response to my shot of part of our yard during a recent snowstorm. You all have made me consider using it as our Christmas card this year. Hope everyone has a good day today!
