20.8.08 - Self Explanatory
Non-sports fans need read no further, I'm banging on about the Olympics again :) On a slightly more serious note, if it wasn't for the Olympics my brain might well have exploded today. I have been on the wrong end of so much incompetence that I am left fuming. Billions of dollars are transfered electronically every minute of every day, and yet some idiots managed to mess up a transaction of mine for only £150, which resulted in an order being delayed until after the weekend, which will result in at least 40 customers getting very annoyed and my cash flow being severely restricted. No one will accept responsibility, let alone apologise, and guess who will end up carrying the can?
But then there was the Olympics. How can I be annoyed when Usain Bolt ran the greatest race in history, breaking a record that has stood for 12 years, and many thought would stand for another 12, when he was tired, and running into a headwind! When Tasha Danvers, a less well known athlete, won a bronze medal after a year of battling injury after injury. When a South African swimmer became the first amputee to take part in the full-blown Olympics. I love all sport, well apart from synchronised swimming, but... well I won't go there. These men and women sweat blood, sometimes literally, and today I was moved almost to tears several times by their efforts. This one is for you guys. Go Team GB :)
