SmugMug > popular today > 01.05.10 = Wild Cherry.
Okay, that is the first thing that came to my head and now I can’t get that song “Play that funky music” by Wild Cherry out of my head. So, since it’s stuck in my head now, I thought I would share it with all of you. This will get you dancin’ and singin’ and movin' to the grovin’ this morning.

Thank you everyone for all your comments on my fruit series this week. I had some fun with this one in post processing as well. This has the same treatment as yesterday’s post, using the watercolor filter.

Have a funky day!!
SmugMug > popular today > 01/05/10 - Rainbow of Crocs
I was playing around taking pictures of Crocs last night for several reasons. The swan shots I took to/from doctor were blown out:-( The dog shots I took of Blaze...well, I can do better if only she'll cooperate;-) The current Dgrin challenge is a picture with a shoe in it:-) I doubt I'll enter this...maybe retry some other shots with Crocs, though. And, hey, there are circles on the tops of the shoes to keep in my accidental circle theme. And, oh, it's colorful.

In this picture, it's the current non winter Crocs that the boys have at their disposal to wear. If you don't know, the 'jewelry' on the shoes are called Jibbitz, and that's a whole nother industry on top of Crocs themselves. Actually, they come in handy. With the boys' shoe sizes being so close, they use them to quickly identify their shoes without reading the size on the bottom.

As with many of my photos, they lend to cleaning something. First I threw all the Crocs in the washing machine (works just great btw), then I had to clean off the kitchen table, then I ironed the white sheet, took the pics, and finally cleaned out the bins I have for their shoes. I removed the items that don't fit or aren't being worn. Cool...now all their current shoes actually fit in the bins again. Yippee! See, taking pictures can be a great part of household cleaning too.

I do make them wear sneaks to school, but Crocs are fine for quick trips out and about in the car:-)

I do own a pair or two. Love 'em or hate 'em?

HAGD,
Maryann

Winter Wonderland

I was driving home and was surprised to see the trees still lit up with lights. I originally planned on this being in color, but ended up going with b&w.
SmugMug > popular today > Holiday light display at the Denver Botanic Gardens....fountain and pool are front and center.

Thanks to those of you who commented on my shot of my son-in-law and granddaughter embracing. Your comments and support inspire me to try to continually improve my photography. Such wonderful shots on smugmug today. I sure enjoyed looking through them, as always. Have a great day!

The joining of hands by the bride and groom in a Hindu wedding is as symbolic as the exchange of rings in the Christian tradition.

SmugMug > popular today > January 5, 2009 - "Camp Hale"

Some of the structures from the Camp are still visible in the distance.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Camp Hale, between Red Cliff and Leadville in the Eagle River valley in Colorado, was a U.S. Army training facility constructed in 1942 for what became the 10th Mountain Division. It was named in honor of General Irving Hale. Soldiers were trained in mountain climbing, skiing, and cold-weather survival. When it was in full operation, approximately 16,000 soldiers were housed there.

Day 308, Tuesday, January 5

I didn't have much hope for this capture as I was shooting into the sun...
...and this Snowy Egret was walking away from me,
but I think it turned out ok.

This will be the last of my recent Egret captures.... but not of birds.
I wish I had more to offer, but not much else interest me here is South Florida.
I have a couple of short Florida Road Trips planned.... so that should change.

Photography and photographic equipment is like any field of technology in this day and age.
Rare and difficult to stay on the cutting edge for very long.... and to what purpose?
Relevant today... obsolete tomorrow.

I have a thirst for knowledge... for and about any subject.
And I do desire in improve my photographic skills... but not for any reason
...other than to have a reminder of my journeys.

Just talking to myself,
Norm
