SmugMug > popular today > Lucky shot - A couple of days ago I spent an hour or so photographing ducks at a small park behind Colorado College. I had hoped to get some shots of ducks flying but these guys were just not interested. Finally, it was almost time to go and I decided to take matters into my own hands. I took my big lens back to the car and got my 24 - 70mm lens. I figured I could run at the ducks with this in my hands and, hopefully, get a shot of one flying if I was quick enough. I was having a bit of success with this. At least, the ducks were flying. I ran at a group of them and they took off. As I was trying to grab a shot, my foot slipped on the sort of icy, slushy, duck poopy ground and I fell on my butt into a bunch of duck poop. I shot this as I was going down and it turned out to be the best of the whole day, I think. The back of my coat and pants were pretty well soaked in duck poop. Unfortunately, I had to go from the park to my pilates class. My fellow classmates and instructor gave me a pretty hard time about how I looked. It was worth it, though. I'll probably try it again! SmugMug > popular today > Well, I've learned something important this week end and I'll pass it on to you, in case you want to get into doing "shows"----don't confuse "Art Shows" with "Craft Fairs". This Holiday craft fair, as large it is, is not the venue for me. I did sell things and I've paid for my 2-day booth already but, I had higher hopes. But when the customers can buy "things" very cheaply for gifts from someone else, they will. My booth was crowded and I spent most of the day talking to a lot of very nice people, both young and old. I even made some new friends! And for that I am thankful. I went through most of my business cards (~300!) so I'm sure I'll get some calls from some of those folks when their need arises. I kept hearing all day about what a great eye I have and to keep it up so, off I go again today..... When I got out of there yesterday, I was at the top of hill, overlooking the Bourne Bridge with a gorgeous sunset unfolding. I stopped at the nearest store to ask a local where the best spot to take in the sunset would be. He directed me to Monument Beach. So this is where I spent the next hour and a half, crashed in the sand, me and my camera.... Have a great day!

SmugMug > popular today > Greens... drops... light - Nov 21 2009 Yesterdays tulip was of course an old picture... we're not so lucky to have tulips blooming in November here! It's been a while since I left the home to shoot new pictures... but I 'forced' myself to just do that today. Went for a short walk in the fields around our house to shoot whatever crossed my eye and lens. This 'play' of green, drops and light caught my attention... simple, but nice.
