Well after yesterdays lack of creativity & plain old energy I felt MUCH better today after sleeping in until 1:30pm this afternoon. I woke up feeling refreshed but got off to a slow start. After a cup of Joe, my medication & a few minutes of stretching I was ready to go for day 226. After speaking to John (300m) on the phone I headed out to capture the quickly turning colors around town.

To start off, I didn't have to go far just by walking across the street from my house where the wood line was scattered with multi-colored trees & bushes for as far as you could see. Part of my trip brought me back to one of my favorite locales and THE LAKE HOUSE. I shot this wide angle from the west shoreline with the sun behind me blazing down on the far shore & mountainside which lit up like the Vegas strip at midnight as you can see. I was thrilled to see how cool the shadows & reflections from the shore glazed into the water reflecting not only the colors but a cool right angle in the shape of a 'V' & water so clear you could see the bottom. Without a cloud in the sky and the most PERFECT conditions for shooting I couldn't ask for a better day of relaxing & productive color chasing. This image has very little post with only being hit with a very slight crop & contrast adjustment and that's all folks, not even any sharpening was needed to show the mountainside scattered with the lovely colors of Autumn!

SmugMug > popular today > Day 236 - Morning Mist at Kearney Lake

I visited Kearney Lake early this morning. The mist was rising off the with Autumn colors in the background. As I was walking the along the lake, I sat on a rock to watch the trees get brighter, and brighter. When three ducks landed behind me, and then came within a foot of the shore where I sat. Eventually, coming round, right in front of me and to my surprise started to come on shore about 2 feet away from me. I never thought I'd say, backup you're too close for my 300mm.. :)

I was hoping to see one of the beavers in the mist, they were there. I usually would hear them after they submerged. Checking me out I guess. Saw lots of Chick-a-dees, Finches, and Sparrows. A sparrow just about walked into me before realizing I wasn't a tree. :)

I added some more photos from the morning out. (here)

Gail has asked about the weather there in Ahmedabad:
In summers (from March to June) the weather is very hot and dry with the average temperature ranging between 23°C to 43°C (73.4°F to 109.4°F). During November to February, the climate is quite pleasant with the temperature ranging from 15°C to 35°C (59°F 95°F). The highest temperature ever recorded in Ahemdabad is 47°C (116.6°F) and lowest 5°C (41°F).

I find these animals facinating. I have had a terrible time trying to get a decent shot of them. Trying to hold the camera steady when your on a wagon and not only is it bouncing all around but so is the zebra.
SmugMug > popular today > 12.10.08 - What a Day!

The temperature hit the mid 70s yesterday afternoon, hard to believe it is October in the UK, the shorts even came back out of hibernation Karina :)

This was taken at Swanholme Lakes, a rather different SP that just appeared out of nowhere, but I quite like it. I spent a lot of the day in Hartsholme Park, which is just beyond the trees on the far side of the lake. I was taking some still photos for this wonderful project; http://www.theladyofshalott.co.uk/index.html I had bumped into them by accident a few weeks ago, and was invited to take some stills, but understandably I can't release any of my images until after the film is released next May. It is a really exciting project, their attention to detail is incredible, and next May can't come fast enough.

While I was there I took some general shots of the park, including some spectacular colours and reflections, and these are in a new gallery here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/6221276_jhJTP#392490489_kvt5q

I hardly had any chance to get on the Dailies again yesterday, but I'll try to catch up with everyone's photos when I get chance. Is it really Monday again already :(

don't have a clue what this plant is but i suspect it must be an import from the southern hemisphere since its blooming now and didn't this spring. whatever it is the bugs sure like it. i counted three types of bees and at least three different other bugs on it somewhere. it was dusk when i found it alas so was only able to nab the nearest bees and had to use the on-camera flash even so. thanks to all who enjoyed my 'poem', hope y'all had as good a laugh as i did composing it. have a great week
