SmugMug > popular today > Day 195 - Dry Erase. This is the second idea I came up with yesterday. I was having a hard time trying to figure out how to pull it off but decided to give it a go anyway. The concept is what I wanted, but it is more subtle than I intended. I may revisit this some day.
SmugMug > popular today > May 13: Sunrise on the Bay What a difference 24 hrs makes. This is the other side of Post, on my way into the office. I could see the sun just starting to come up so I darted into a parking lot near by and grabbed the camera & tripod and headed for the seawall. The other side of the trees you see in the background is where I took yesterdays shot. This is the sheltered channel where they race the hydroplanes in August. Day was nice sun wise, just still cold and very windy. EXIF: Pro1 on tripod 1/640 f/3.5 ISO 50 -2/3 EV 85mm Karina, this is what I was talking about in my note :) I knew I had a sunrise just not how good till I got home. That 1.5" screen on the Pro1 is tiny. Thanks for the kind words. John
SmugMug > popular today > May 13, 2008 Traveling again...took this along the way- Not great, but all I shot- Quick and dirty edit job...not really happy with it, and could probably do better, but I didn't have the time to put into it tonight- Post- -HDR from 3 exposures -Shadow/Highlights adjustment (major) -Selective burning -Noise removal -Smart Sharpen -Crop Probably should have created more exposures before the HDR...wouldn't have needed such a drastic shadow/highlight adjustment...

He's taken a few steps before, and was walking as long as he could hold on to something, but today he was walking back and forth, back and forth .... well, you get the picture. This is just a family snapshot, but it was an exciting day around here, so indulge a grandma and let her brag! SmugMug > popular today > 14.5.08 - I hope there is a happy ending to this shot, but the last time I saw this family of ducks there were 5 babies. Dad was around then too, but was nowhere to be seen today, so maybe he has the other 4 tucked away somewhere, fingers crossed. The hot sun of recent days has been replaced by a cold dark grey day, only 14 degrees C according to my car :) It was also quite breezy by the lake, and this was a devil to photograph. Low flat light, impossible to get any depth of field, and the birds were very skittish. I took lots of photos in my snatched lunchbreak, but most were binned. Even the ones I've kept needed a lot of manipulation in shadows/highlights, but at least the low light has made the colours nice and rich.
