Happy Mother's Day
These were pretty far away. About 250 feet. Not the greatest shot but I haven't seen a mother GBH and her chicks before and thought it would be an appropriate shot for the day.
SmugMug > popular today > May 10: Flowers in the Rain.
This morning was rainy and overcast so when there was a break in the rain I went out to see the new flowers that are blooming under our weeping cherry. I was able to capture this shot this morning after breakfast and before my daughter and I went out for a "short" trip. Glad I did as we returned much later than I figured. This shot is a focus stack of 2 shots. I tried 4 shots but the halo effect from the out of focus palp was a bit much to deal with. I liked the water on the pedals (my back too from the cherry tree overhead).

SmugMug > popular today > Today’s photo was made from the observation balcony at Vulcan Park. The park sits atop Red Mountain just south of downtown Birmingham. My intent was to take some shots of the city as the light was fading after sunset, hoping to get some nice photographs as the lights were coming on. The view of the city was obscured by a thick haze. The dull light offered little contrast to make the image pop. I have limited experience shooting at this time of day especially in these conditions so it was interesting to try and see what I could capture. In this photograph, you are looking northward into Birmingham.

There is nothing of interest to note in the image processing. I played around with several filters but decided to leave the image natural with only minor color correction and enhancement.

( A photo reminiscent of Amy Wilburn's Mother's Day shot.)

Sam treated me to lunch yesterday for Mother's Day. We used to love to have Mexican food at Baja Fresh for a quick meal when we lived in AZ, but here in the Philly area the only one we know of is a long drive away. Yesterday we had to be in that area to go to Trader Joe's ( also a long drive away) and enjoyed salsas and some time to talk. Great way to enjoy MY day! Thanks Sam!!!!
