SmugMug > popular today > 11/27/09 - Bathing Tufted Titmouse
Before dinner yesterday, I put my camera on the tripod and used the self timer to take a picture of the family at the dinner table. Despite being quite sick and not really able to taste what I was cooking, dinner turned out fine, and we enjoyed the meal with my dad. After dinner, while I was cleaning up, a tufted titmouse went into the birdbath out my kitchen sink window and started to bathe himself. With great luck, the camera was still on the tripod, so I moved it into position quick. As it turns out, 3 separate tufted titmouses came to bathe one right after the other, and I got good pics of the second 2 in various stages of bathing.

I have cropped this to show more detail and slightly bumped up the colors/contrast. Many more of these birds some with water splashing about can be found here:

Sick or not, I'm off to shop! It was touch and go, and I may not last long, but I'm headed out!

Thanks for your comment on our turkey day portrait. The boys are always excited to be in my POTD. I had intended to try to reshoot an even better shot, but after 5 days of clouds, I gave up and went with the one I'd already taken.

New York, Chicago & St. Louis Dining and Observation Car #125 - Nickel Plate Road #125, a heavyweight dining and observation car, was built in 1930 by Pullman. It has a full kitchen occupying 30' at one end of the car and a dining area with seating for 30 (6 four person tables and 3 two person tables). .....

The Galveston Railroad Museum purchased this car from the Oregon, Pacific and Eastern Railway in 1978. The body is painted blue and lettering is yellow.
SmugMug > popular today > Cluster of mushrooms - Nov 26 2009

Don't need much more than moisture, old wood and and a big pile of horse sh... to grow some quality mushrooms ;-) add some bright sunlight and you're almost sure to end up with a nice picture.

SmugMug > popular today > Day 86 (November 21, 2009) - Float on little Stephen. Float on.

*note - and so ends Photoshop week. I'm so behind in my dailies, because each one of these is so time consuming. Expect something different next week. So tempted to just do a ton of "lazy" shots to catch up. We'll see!

SmugMug > popular today > 26.11.09 - See The Light

Another Lincoln Cathedral shot, but I've not done this angle for a long time and this is the first time I've done it at night. This is a difficult shot to do at night. The Cathedral is a long way away, and the camera is always trying to expose for the dark sky. You have to under expose the shot or the Cathedral will be blown out completely. I was shooting across a sports field, and the lights in the foreground are considerably closer than the Cathedral. I had the camera wedged in between the spikes on top of a high metal fence, and it was very cold and windy. Apart from that it was a piece of cake :)
SmugMug > popular today > November 26, 2009 Thanksgiving day. Forgot to get a shot of the turkey!

Hope everyone had a wonderful day with family and friends.
