I went into town this evening to get some more shots of the Christmas lights. I walked back up Steep Hill and took a few shots around the Jews House, the building on the left. It was built in the 12th century and is the oldest domestic building in the UK, possibly Europe. With the Cathedral just poking above the trees on the hill I thought sepia worked well with this. I had a bit of luck with the positioning of the girls as they walked past the light.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! i hope you all have much to be thankful for, especially good friends and family, shared joys, health, and ways you make a positive difference in your world. i'm thankful for more than i can type, including smug and the dailies ;-) . i'm even thankful for my health tho its been a struggle lately, especially having too low energy to be able to do much beyond survive. helps remingd me to be humbly grateful for each day and those bursts when i have energy and can do something. haven't touched my camera in almost a week, as you daily regulars probably know from my lack of posts, but i really wanted to post something for thanksgiving so i found this from a couple months ago. this was growing on a pier at one of my favorite places in the world, semiahmoo spit - you may remember the baby harbor seal shot which was from this same day and place tho a different spot there. make sure to tell those you care about how much they mean to you. many blessings on you all

For those celebrating Thanksgiving today, I hope you have a special famiy day. My father is in town, and I'll be cooking a traditional meal inbetween working and sniffing (the cold is quite bad now).

For the rest of you, come on weekend!

Thank you so much for your response to the grape shot:-)

Many of you joined the Facebook discussion group. Cool. If this is new news, please refer to yeserday's post.

SmugMug > popular today > I took a break from getting ready for Thanksgiving to take my daily .... gobble, gobble, gobble.

Hope all of those in the United States enjoy a bountiful, peaceful Thanksgiving, and to the rest of you: Happy Thursday! :-)
(November 25, 2009)

"Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life... a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons, the beauty of seedtime and harvest, the ripe product of the year - and the deep, deep connection of all these things with God."

This is what I'm most thankful for.
I'm also thankful for this daily community which has been so wonderful.
SmugMug > popular today > November 26, 2009 - "Southern Pacific #314"

#314 was a passenger engine constructed in April 1892 by Cooke Locomotive & Machine Works, Patterson, NJ,

Number 314 provides an excellent example of the type of engine that brought passenger trains to Galveston in the first half of the 20th Century. 314 is the oldest surviving ten-wheeler in Texas, and is one of only 12 or so Cooke locomotives surviving in North America.
