More candid street photography as Maggie and I spent 6 hours driving and walking through the very soul of the city. This gentleman was so concentrated on reading his newspaper, he didn't even see me. The incredible thing is, this was early Saturday morning and the streets were filled with people but I never saw one person idle. Everyone was doing something! An incredible place and I have to say, incredible people!

Thank-you for the wonderful response to my ghostly collage yesterday, I hope it encourages a few people to try something similar for the first time. The original version of this image was taken at the same time, but I thought it would look better with a "ghost" walking up the steps. Last night I went back and took a few shots with me in them, but they didn't quite look how I wanted, something was missing. I eventually worked out that what was missing was the rain on the flagstones, giving a nice sheen in the lamplight. So I decided to re-work this image as B&W, and added a dark vignette to give a more claustrophobic atmosphere.

The Walls Are Alive :>

A home in the historical district of Austin.
Yesterday, we went to Austin to see A Christmas Carol at IMAX. We were lucky to even find parking since it was game day at UT and even the parking lot for IMAX and the Texas State History Museum was full. But we did manage to find parking in time to see the movie. Unfortunately, the game ended about the same time as the movie. So we were delayed in traffic in the streets of Austin for quite some time. This is one of the homes were drove past in the historical district. The image has multiple treatments including infrared B&W, posterizing, antiquing and blurring of the edges. I was trying to make the image look like it came from the pages of an old magazine or newspaper.

They were just hanging there... waiting for a breeze to finish them off. Another cycle of life come to an end...

Another one of the shots I took last Thursday. I never get tired of going to the beach. Don't think I ever will.
SmugMug > popular today > 11/8/09 Just a fun shot of a Sand Hill Crane silhouette. Shot at the Jasper Pulaski State Park in Indiana. They are going migrating and the current count is just over 10,000 birds.

Eiffel Tower...a little different perspective. My son and his wife just returned from a trip to Paris and London. We were comparing notes "pictures" and I came across this one. It was one of my favorites so I thought I would toss it out to you all. It was taken in September 2006.
