Really off day for me. After a very dry July and first part of August the skies have opened up and it has been raining for nearly 5 days. Not sure if that is why I have been so uninspired or if it is something else. The rain turned to a very fine drizzle long enough for me to get this shot. There is a fenced in field across from the high school - dead center of town - and in that field there are usually several cows and 2 horses grazing. Seems really out of place - but at least I got one POD with it. I think I can do better and will go back when it is not raining and I am not feeling rushed. For today though - this is it.

Non-sports fans need read no further, I'm banging on about the Olympics again :) On a slightly more serious note, if it wasn't for the Olympics my brain might well have exploded today. I have been on the wrong end of so much incompetence that I am left fuming. Billions of dollars are transfered electronically every minute of every day, and yet some idiots managed to mess up a transaction of mine for only £150, which resulted in an order being delayed until after the weekend, which will result in at least 40 customers getting very annoyed and my cash flow being severely restricted. No one will accept responsibility, let alone apologise, and guess who will end up carrying the can?

But then there was the Olympics. How can I be annoyed when Usain Bolt ran the greatest race in history, breaking a record that has stood for 12 years, and many thought would stand for another 12, when he was tired, and running into a headwind! When Tasha Danvers, a less well known athlete, won a bronze medal after a year of battling injury after injury. When a South African swimmer became the first amputee to take part in the full-blown Olympics. I love all sport, well apart from synchronised swimming, but... well I won't go there. These men and women sweat blood, sometimes literally, and today I was moved almost to tears several times by their efforts. This one is for you guys. Go Team GB :)
SmugMug > popular today > Another HAPPY ACCIDENT! I took this while driving last night and didn't see the awesome sun rays & lens flare coming through my sun roof until I looked at it in CS3 just now. Some small adjustments to levels & exposure were needed to lighten it up a bit so I could be seen clearly but that's about it.

"RECENT SPAM": I was wondering if anyone else is getting that SPAM left in your Dailies gallery comment area the past few days ? How aggravating to have to delete this junk every day. I hope SmugMug gets these guys under control before we get flooded with junk, I'm going to be making a complaint about it later tonight :(

Saw this little guy outside my front door this morning. I had to take the shot through the glass so as not to disturb him so the images is not as sharp as I would like.

We had to cross the river, so we went to set on a rock to put our socks and shoes back on and poor old Jackson was scared we was leaving him, so this is a shot of his face when he was going crazy!!
SmugMug > popular today > 19.8.08 - After the Rains

Well this is now officially the wettest August in 100 years in the UK, and it is only the 19th! Actually, Lincoln has escaped relatively lightly. In a land of moist westerlies we are on the dry side of the country, 22 inches of rain a year is pretty dry really, but this month has been very un-summery. The puddles are a hint that we have had another wet day, even if the sunset was quite nice, but it has been a good day.

Team GB are having their best Olympics since the last time we had an August as wet as this (yes, 100 years for that too lol), we rule the velodrome completely, 7 golds out of 10 events, and we're even winning in the "birds nest" today. Life is good, even if I am still knackered, armchair sport can be tiring you know :)
