I make no special claims for this photo, it was just how it was this morning when I made my usual Saturday morning dash into town and back. We have had a series of increasingly hot days, and nights, and today was no exception. It was much cooler by the water, so I spent some time walking around Brayford Pool before tackling the climb back up the hill and 2 mile walk back home. These swans were on a mission, someone was feeding them on the south (left) bank. In the middle distance you can just make out a line of ducks heading in the same direction.

I think I've mentioned before, that this part of town was a real eyesore when I was a kid. The pool was surrounded by derelict warehouses, and the water itself was soured by half submerged barges and abandoned boats. The development of the brand new University on the south bank, itself on derelict railway land, spurred on the rejuvenation of the whole area.

The subject of yesterday's Daily is a couple of hundred yards off to the left of this view. The Cathedral and Castle are up on the hill half a mile to the right.

If you saw this post you'd know that this is packed for my fridge. I went to the Oak Park Farmers Market today and picked up some produce. It's some good stuff. The brown bag is Crimini mushrooms, not leftovers. I thought it was kind of interesting that we got the second to last quart of jalapenos. I guess since the salmonella scare with jalapenos people are buying them locally now. Time to go to sleep. Yes it's 11:30AM but I once again stayed out too late and am suffering the consequences by sleeping through my day off.

Happy Birthday to my hubby (Mr. Kentucky Lightchaser - Don)!!!

After our older daughter was killed in an accident in January, we didn't pick up our cameras for a good while. Our hearts just weren't in it. Then one evening, we felt drawn to that which we love to shoot most...sunsets, and we drove to a favorite lake in the area and shot a zillion sunset shots. Wonderful therapy for us. Here, Don looks as though he's in very deep thought. I saw the reflection of the sunset in his glasses and grabbed a shot. It's one of my favorite pictures. ~ Shirl
