I always spend the night before a shoot studying photos from past sessions to review what I did right, as well as study photos to see what I did wrong or could've done better. This list is usually way more extensive than the things I did right list! :) Here you see the three boys in this family all finding their spots on this amazing tree. The original photo was so flat that I had to do a lot of color correction, and it seemed a little more interesting when I saturated the colors more than normal. It feels like a "busy" photo but there is something about it that I find so appealing. It wasn't until I viewed the images from this shoot on my computer that I realized that big empty space directly in the middle would've been an ideal place to have the parents join in the picture. I just didn't "see it" at the actual time of the session because I was concentrating on a bazillion other things. So, I am sharing this photo tonight as a reminder to myself to think about not just what is in the picture but what might be missing from it!
