Now that the child has experienced the quantity/the concrete (Number Rods or Spindle Boxes or counting objects... from one to five), and has been given the abstract symbol (numbers one to five...) she may want to write the one and the zero. Use a squared chalkboard and sandpaper numbers. Trace with two fingers from top to bottom. Say "One".
